Dillard Hensley Obituary


Dillard L. Hensley of Covington, passed away February 20, 2010, at the age of 82. A US Navy Veteran, having served in World War II, Mr. Hensley was a member of Mansfield Baptist Church, and the Golden Fleece Lodge, in Covington, where he served for more than 50 years. He loved training bird dogs, raising chickens and cattle, and playing jokes on those around him. Mr. Hensley enjoyed being outdoors, and especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lemuel and Ollie Weaver Hensley. Survivors include his wife, Chris Hensley; children, Steve and Tami Goss of Kathleen, GA, Judith (Judy) Sanders of Barnesville, GA, Steve and Judy Hensley of Greenville, SC, Eddie and Brenda Hensley of Lilburn, GA, Lanan and Bill Jones of Haysville, NC; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Howard Johnson of Thompson, GA; brother and sister-in-law, L.A. and Agnes Hensley of Madison, GA; grandchildren, Tammy Chapman, Jacob Reeves, Katy Goss, Steven Goss, Brandi Mitchell, Daniel Hensley, Jeremy Hensley, Tabitha Hensley, Katrina Hensley, Victoria Hensley; and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mr. Hensley will be held Monday, February 22, 2010, 2 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Rd., in Covington, with Dr. Jeff Perkins officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday, February 21, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.
