Eleanor Odell Cole

Eleanor Odell (Born) Cole, age 85 of Alpharetta, was born on June 13, 1939 and died August 17, 2024. She was born to Claude Stinson Born, Sr. and Agnes Viola (Harris) Born, Eleanor was the 4th of 5 children. Raised in Atlanta, she attended Smith High School, graduating in 1957.

A lifelong member of the Baptist Church she lived her life by the values instilled in her by her parents and the church. Her life was guided by Faith, family, friendship, being a good neighbor, and service to the community. Her life, was indeed, a life well lived.

On June 15, 1958, she married Tommy Maurice Cole in a matrimonial ceremony officiated by her father.

From August of 1959 through December of 1962, she gave birth to 3 sons, Randall, David, and Stan.

She was a stay-at-home mom until her children were all of school age. Around 1971 she began work in the Rockdale County School system as a teacher's aide working with kindergarten aged kids. This would be her life's work for most of the following 34 years. C.J. Hicks Elementary, Honey Creek Elementary, Barksdale Elementary and finally, in Henry County, Ola Elementary.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, her parents, sisters, Marianne, Shirley and brother, Claude, Jr.

She is survived by her sister, June English; sons, Randall (Meredith), David (Carla), Stan (Taffy Lee); grandchildren, Zachary (Nicole), Kaitlan, Olivia Stanwyck (Harry), Kevin, Isabelle, and Claire (Mickey); great-grandchildren, Ryan, Everett, Cal, and Emery Eleanor; many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
