Joe Segler Obituary


Joe T. Segler, age 80 of Conyers, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dean Everett Segler. He is survived by daughters, Sherre and Jim Cown, Monroe; Karen and Mark Payne, Dacula; son, Glen and Marcia Segler, Gainesville; grandchildren, Kenny and Jennifer Cown, Amy Cown, Ashley Cown, Megan Payne, Jeremy Payne, Josh Payne, James Thigpen, and Kelly Thigpen; great grandson, Collin James Cown; sister, Verna Mahan, MS and several nieces and nephews. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean Conflict where he earned the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the United Nations Medal. Mr. Segler also served on the Board of Equalization for Rockdale County. He was a member of First Baptist Conyers and the XYZ Club. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Scot Ward's Harry White Chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. Howard Greer officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 26, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Contributions may be made to First Baptist Conyers, 2100 Hwy 138, Conyers, GA 30013 or to the Heritage Foundation, 214 Massachusetts Ave NE, Washington DC 20002-4999.
