Oscar Howard Spears

Oscar Howard Spears, age 70, of Social Circle, died July 24, 2006 at Rockdale Medical Center of complications from Leukemia. The son of Oscar Hermis and Helen Bonner Spears, he was born on the family farm 2 miles south of Mansfield January 28, 1936. The last 54 years of his life was spent in the Brick Store Community where he was a caregiver to his parents, a loving brother and uncle. Mr. Spears was a long time cattleman and also ran an egg production business.
He is survived by his mother: Helen Spears of Social Circle; sister and brother-in-law: Loy & Moody Summers of Covington, GA; sister: Shannon Spears of Tappahannock, VA; niece: Ivy and her husband Phillip Stone of Covington, GA; nephews: Clay & Martha Summers of Albany, GA, Moody & Diana Summers IV of Covington, GA, George & Denesha Summers of Covington, GA; great nieces: Loy & Frank Turner, Ida & Matt Harris, Ivy Katherine Summers, Jane Elliott Summers, Helen Summers, Susan Summers, Margaret Summers, great nephews: Phillip Chamberlain & Kelly Stone, Edward Theodore Stone, Clay Chamberlain Summers, George Smith Summers, Jr., Moody C. Summers V; great great nieces Ivy Turner Julia Turner, Abby Stone, Payton Stone, great great nephew: Parks Harris and several aunts and numerous cousins.
Memorial services for Mr. Spears will be held 11 AM Thursday, July 27, 2006 at The Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd with the Reverend Timothy Graham officiating, interment at Carmel Church Cemetery in Mansfield. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Episcopal Church Of The Good Shepherd, 2160 Church Street SE, Covington, GA 30014. Historic J.C.
