Earl Combs Obituary

Earl Sherwood Combs, 92, of Harrisonburg, VA passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at his home. Mr. Combs was born December 22, 1932, in Peru, West Virginia and was the son of the late Elmer Lee and Minnie Bliss Hupp Combs. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Ralph Combs, Ray Combs, Bobby Combs, Shirley Tate, Velma Smith, Linda Combs and Lona Shank. Earl served our country with the United States Army, he then worked for Virginia National Bank for 42 yrs before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, attending auctions, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is married to Cynthia Combs who survives. In addition to his wife of 46 years, he is also survived by his children, Dwayne Combs, Jason (Brad) Combs and wife, Jennifer, Wesley Combs and wife, Gayle, and Lisa Carter and husband, Wesley; a sister, Joyce Combs; grandchildren, Kayla Combs, Christian Combs, Easton Combs, Logan Blackburn and fiance Samantha Reyes, Lincoln Rexrode, Landon Rexrode, Lawson Rexrode, Lawerence Carter, and Sadie Carter as well as a great-grandchildren; Johnathan Clark, Joseph Reyes, and Lennox Blackburn. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Woodbine Cemetery in Harrisonburg, with Rev. Doug Gochenour and Charles Franklin officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday evening at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
