George Coffman Obituary

George "Mac" Coffman went to be with his Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of October 18, 2025. Mac was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Mac was preceded in death by his parents, J Rush and Charlotte G. Coffman. Mac is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; daughter, Sarah Coffman; son, Matthew Coffman and his wife, Amber; grandchildren, Kelcey Seaman and Joshua Black, and great-granddaughters, Akira and Azra Black. He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Hoover (husband Bruce), Jenny Reid (husband David), Carol Dillard (husband Jim); his brother, Joe Coffman (wife Becky), as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Mac loved his wife Nancy in a way that beautifully mirrored the calling of Ephesians 5:25: "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her." In his role as a husband, Mac embodied this deep and selfless love a husband should have for his wife. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting. He was well known for his work as a tool and die machinist and worked for Reynolds, now Pactiv, for 30 years. He also ran his own business from home, Mac's Machine Shop and enjoyed his retired years working in his shop. Mac was a yard sale enthusiast and famous for finding a good deal. Mac's family will remember him as a faithful Christian: honest, wise, unwavering, hard-working, humble, a peacemaker, a great friend, and always ready with a clever sense of humor. Above all, Mac loved the Lord. When the voice of the Lord called, Mac would answer. He was a lay servant speaker and a Sunday school teacher for 14 years. His faithfulness and devotion to the Father was evident and he lived what he believed every day of his life. The Coffman family extend their appreciation to all of the rescue and healthcare providers, hospice nurse Jessica, and Pastor Scott Thayer, for their care and support of Mac. We are deeply grateful for all the care you provided. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Interment will be private at Keezletown Cemetery.

Yesterday

Dear Nancy, Sarah and Matthew: Mac was a gentleman and a gentle man. His love for the Lord was always so genuine and unfailing. He was a servant with an obedient heart who touched so many lives with his loving and sincere witness. I know my father had great admiration for Mac. Nancy, you and Mac were great role models for me as I was growing up. Mark and I want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We know that Mac is rejoicing with his Lord and Savior as he is reunited with those who have gone before. Blessing to your family.
