Owen Phillips Obituary

Owen Lee Phillips, 93, of Broadway, died March 27, 2025 at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg. He was born September 9, 1931 in Broadway and was a son to the late Malchus Abraham and Arlene Barton Phillips. Owen retired from Rocco. He also retired after 21 years of service from the U.S. Air Force. He was a life member of Chimney Rock VFW Post # and also a life member of disabled veterans of America. Owen was a member of Mountain Valley United Methodist Church. On November 14, 1953 he married the former Margaret Shead, who survives. Also surviving are a son; Robert Phillips and wife Cynthia, of Broadway, grandson; Jonathan Phillips, of Broadway, great granddaughter; Hailey Sherman and son-in-law; Johnnie Sherman, of Broadway. He was preceded in death by a daughter; Arlene Sherman, a sister; Dorothy Good and two brothers; Elwood and Roland Phillips. Pastor Brent Hockeman will conduct a funeral service 2 PM Wednesday at the Grandle Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway. Burial with military honors will follow at Mountain Valley Cemetery near Harrisonburg. Friends may pay their respects and sign a guestbook Tuesday from 9 AM- 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made the disabled veterans of America, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250.
