Annie Leppla Obituary

Annie Edwards Leppla

MOMEYER - Annie Edwards Leppla, age 87, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2017. Born in Nash County, NC on March 4, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Levy Thomas Gary "Tom" Edwards and Donnie Hinton Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Floyd Alvin Leppla; brothers, Sidney Edwards, Willard Edwards, Woodrow Edwards, Paul Edwards, John Edwards; and sisters, Fannie Edwards Burrage, Ruby Edwards Holland, and Nancy Edwards Jackson.

Annie was a dedicated wife and mother and enjoyed taking care of her family for many years before working in bookkeeping and later as a teller at Planters Bank in Nashville and later as Peoples Bank and Centura Bank. She had the ability to remember many of her customers over the years and greatly enjoyed seeing them from time to time. Annie loved to show her love to her family and friends by sharing a meal or something sweet! There always seemed to be at least one cookie in the jar and another serving of supper on the stove to share. She also enjoyed spending time with her neighbors and kept her mind sharp with crossword puzzles, crafts and reading.

Besides being a devoted wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend she was an active member of Momeyer Baptist Church for many years. She especially enjoyed participating in WMU, Sunbeams, GA's and the Tape/Home Bound Ministry. She was thankful for the Christian love and friendship of her church family and that continued to bless her even after having to leave her home for Assisted Living.

Annie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sweet sister, Joyce Edwards Abernathy of Hampstead as well as her loving children, Gary Alvin Leppla, Laura Leppla Joyner and husband, Charles, Steven Ross Leppla and wife, Gail. She is also survived by grandchildren, Haley Leppla Tury, Chase Allan Joyner, Logan Ross Leppla, Christian Nash Leppla; and great-granddaughter, Emma Finch Tury; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 12:30 PM at Momeyer Baptist Church, 4967 Momeyer Way, Nashville with the Rev. Chris Sorenson and Eddie Finch officiating. A private family burial will follow at Spring Hope Memorial Gardens. A visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the church sanctuary.

Annie's family would like to thank the Nash Hospice & Palliative Care staff who made her last days as comfortable as possible and well as the nursing/rehab staff of Autumn Care of Nash and the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living for the loving care and kindness shown to her in the last two years of her life.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Annie's memory to Momeyer Baptist Church, 4967 Momeyer Way, Nashville, NC 27856 or Hospice & Palliative Care of Nash, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. You may share memories and condolences with the family by visiting www.wheelerwoodlief.com.

They Will Live Forever On It

December 27, 2017

My sincere sympathy to the Leppla family. May it comfort each of you to know that there is another hope for those asleep in death. That hope is to live forever in the paradise earth promised at Psalms 37:29.
