Carl Briley Obituary

NASHVILLE -   Carl Hope Briley,Jr. , 53, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday February 9, 2014. He was born November 23, 1960 in Nash County to the late Carl Hope Briley Sr. and Irma Boyd Briley. Carl joined Stony Creek Vol. Fire and Rescue in 1975 as a junior member and was a member of the first graduating class of paramedics in Nash County in 1986. He continued his career with Stony Creek, eventually serving as chief, until he began nursing school in 1991. Upon Graduation, Carl started working with Nash Health Care Systems, where he held several positions, one of which was the Assistant Manager of the E.R. Carl was currently serving on the Board of Directors with Stony Creek and was also employed with Vidant Medical Center as supervisor of the Critical Care Transport Unit formally known as East Care. Carl was also very active in his church, Church on the Rise, in Rocky Mount and he will always be remembered for his community service and his love for his fellow man. Although Carl`s life was busy, his love for God and his wife was first and foremost.
Carl leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Tamara Spikes Briley; son, Michael Burton Robinson and fiancée Suzanne Hays; sister, Carol B. Cochran-McGrath of Las Vegas, NV; nephews, William K. Cochran of Westchester County, NY and Benjamin T. Cochran of Raleigh, mother-in-law, Charlotte Spikes of Rocky Mount; and brother-in-law, Todd Spikes of Rocky Mount.       
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 10th  from 6:00 until 8:00pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home and Cremations in Nashville. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, February 11th at Church on the Rise in Rocky Mount. Committal will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

Tamra, I am very sorry to here about Carl passing away. I will miss him a lot even though I have not seen him in a while, but I have good memory's of our past times in school. Carl is an inspiration to us all. May God bless you and give a peace of mind that Carl is in Heaven.
