Connie Goodman Obituary

Connie Upchurch Goodman Rocky Mount - Connie Upchurch Goodman age 72, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, September 30, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on May 15, 1953, in Bunn, NC and moved to Rocky Mount in 1961 at age 8. She lived a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness and never met a stranger. Throughout her seventy-two years, she touched countless lives with her warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.

Connie will be remembered as a loving and hard-working mother, mema, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She made many lasting friendships during her thirty-three-year tenure with Abbott Lab and an additional ten years with QVC. She had a gift for making everyone feel seen and cherished, and her gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She found joy in dancing, traveling and her southern cooking. Connie's love for life extended into her garden, where her amazing green thumb brought forth beautiful flowers and thriving plants. She had a special way of bringing life and beauty into any room she entered, just as she did with her garden. She was beautiful inside and out, with a warm smile and graceful spirit that touched everyone she met. Connie was the laughter that filled the air, the funny jokes and stories that brought joy to others, and the sweet and kind soul who made all feel welcome. Her presence truly lit up the room, leaving joy and love wherever she went.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Mozelle Upchurch, and brother, Donnie Richard Upchurch. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Hough and husband, Jason of Raleigh; brother, Ronnie Upchurch and wife, Diane of Nashville; granddaughter, Hallie Hattabaugh and husband, Caleb of Richlands; grandson, Berkley Hough of Raleigh; sister-in-law, Genny Upchurch of Nashville; and three precious great-grandchildren, Gannon, Haislee and Ellie Hattabaugh; Rebecca's father, Chuck Inscoe of Battleboro; former spouse, Jeffrey Goodman of Wilmington; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, family friends, and other extended relatives.

A service to celebrate Connie's life will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Ridgecrest Worship Center, 1120 West Mount Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27803. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 -11:45 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to SECU Hospice House, c/o Johnston Health Foundation, PO Box 1376, Smithfield, NC 27577 - or - give online at https://www.johnstonhealthfoundation.org/home/make-a-donation/.

Her love and laughter will remain in our hearts forever. Connie will be missed deeply but we find comfort in knowing she is resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus.

"Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." - Proverbs 31:31
