Carl William Smith

Carl William "Bill" Smith, age 78, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Floyd Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bill was born in Floyd County, Georgia on December 6, 1944, son of the late Carl Smith and the late Ruth Branton Smith. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Hite, and by a brother, Randy Smith. Bill was the owner of Bilmax Tire and Supply and later retired from Kendrick Auto Service. He loved to grow a garden and share his vegetables with family and friends. Bill was a hard-working man who loved his family dearly.

Survivors include the love of his life and wife of 59 years, Linda Tidmore Smith, to whom he was married on December 20, 1963; one son, Greg Smith of St. Simon, GA; two daughters, Janet Everett (Greg) of Armuchee, and Ann Rickman (Jeff) of Rome; six grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Madison Smith, Jordan Everett, Hannah Everett, Erika Cook, and Alex Rickman; one great grandson, Wyatt Cook.

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 4pm at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Pastor David Thornton officiating and Mr. Smith's children delivering the eulogy.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Wednesday from 2-3:30pm.

Pallbearers will include: Greg and Jordan Everett, Jeff and Alex Rickman, Matthew Smith, Max Floyd, Derek Cook, and Andrew Tate.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Cancer Navigators.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, has charge of the arrangements.
