Frank Welch Obituary

Regretfully passed away on April 28, 2025, at the age of 84. He was born in New York, NY on August 17, 1940, to Anna Kolbl Welch and Lowell T. Welch, both deceased. Frank lived the rest of his days in Floyd County, Georgia on a small farm in the southern portion of the county. He was married to Omega Rachel Shelley Welch, and they lived happily together until her death in 2017. A stepson was acquired from their marriage, James Jackson. Other family members included a brother, Robert E. Lee, and an uncle, Mr. C. Kolbl, both deceased. Frank is survived by several long-standing and loyal friends, including Jerry Looney, Larry Mormon, Tom Havlin, Leo Frances, and Butch Wheeler.

Frank was a fearless, enterprising young man who self-taught himself many skills and trades, including (but not limited to), beverage distillery, farming, welding, automobile mechanics, electrical and plumbing, and heavy equipment operations. Even with a limited education, through self-determination, he studied and became a licensed general contractor as well. Frank also owned and ran a successful printing business, Magnum Printing, for multiple years before retiring in 2006 due to health issues.

Friends will gather on May 8, 2025, at 4:00p.m. EST, For Graveside services at New Prospect Church Cemetery to say their goodbyes. Frank will then be laid to rest alongside his beloved family at New Prospect Church Cemetery on Booger Hollow Road in Lindale, Georgia. To know him is to love him, and he will be missed: Jennifer and Robert Johnstone.
