George Williams Obituary

Mr. George Caperton Williams passed on January 25, 2026, at Winthrop Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center in Rome, Georgia.

Mr. Williams will be laid to rest at Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens.

George was born on August 21, 1936, spending his childhood in Lindale, GA and graduated from Pepperell High School. George attended the University of Georgia, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and then went on to graduate from Baylor University in Texas with a degree in Education. He served in the United States Army, prior to spending many years teaching various subjects and impacting student lives in the Rome area school system. George was gifted with many talents and had a passion for learning. He spoke numerous languages, enjoyed classical music and took great pride in creating elaborate American headdresses by hand. He designed beautiful fixtures and lamps with unique materials. He was a gracious gentleman with a generous heart.

George was born to the late Katherine Caperton Williams and the late Sharon H. "Shag" Williams in Rome, Georgia.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Sharon Williams, Sr. and James Park Williams, Sr. He is survived by his sister, Leah Williams Bounds and her husband Thomas of Charlotte, NC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom he adored.

The family extends its deepest appreciation to the staff of Winthrop Manor for the heartfelt care they provided for Mr. Williams.
