Jean Tate Graham

Mrs. Jean Tate Graham, age 80, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Graham was born in Gilmer County, Georgia on October 22, 1942, daughter of the late James Tate and the late Edna Harris Tate. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Graham, by a brother, Dennis Tate, and by a special niece, NaDee Brown. Mrs. Graham was a graduate of Model High School where she played basketball, was a cheerleader, and was the 1960 Homecoming Queen. Prior to retirement, she worked for several years in Student Accounts at Shorter College. Mrs. Graham was a member of Sherwood Forest Baptist Church. She loved to read, work in her yard, returning to old home places, and visiting the mountains. Her greatest joy in life came from spending time and playing with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Tammie Bice and Tara Bennett; three grandsons, Joshua Green (Magan), Jason Green (Christina), and Aaron Bennett (Peyton Zieminick and her daughter, Parker); four great grandchildren, Shelby Green, Jaxon Green, Eli Green, and Easton Green; a sister, Jeanette Rinehart (Leon); nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Dr. Talmadge Barnes and Dr. Ralph Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Wednesday from 12 noon until 1:45pm.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Wednesday at 1:30pm and include: Joshua Green, Jason Green, Aaron Bennett, Jaxon Green, Eli Green, and Leon Rinehart.
