Joseph Jordan Obituary
Mr. Jordan was born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 24, 1942, son of the late Joseph Harlan Jordan and the late Mary Elizabeth Gossett Jordan Miller. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Bob Miller. Joey was a veteran of the U. S. Army Reserves where he served as a Medic. He owned Jordan Construction Company for 22 years. Mr. Jordan was a member of Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church and taught Sunday School at Chulio Hills for 30 years. He loved singing and playing the guitar, especially Bluegrass pickin' and grinnin'. Joey enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Patricia "Patsy" Clark Jordan; a daughter, Kelley Jordan-Monne (Javier); a son, Jody Jordan (Dawn); four grandchildren, Quinn Jordan (Jessica), Storme Nealey (Nick), Sandor Monne, and Davir Monne; a great granddaughter, Jocy Jordan; a brother, Jimmy Jordan; a sister, Debbie Jordan Norman; several nieces and nephews; many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 1pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Dr. Philip May officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday from 10:30am until 12:45pm.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the arrangements.

Joey was a good one. He had a wonderful sense of humor and could bring a smile to your face. I’ll sure miss playing tunes with you friend!! My condolences go out to your family.

Joey and I were also roommates. We lived in a 2 bedroom, one bath apartment on Peachtree Hills Ave. There were 4 of us and only Furniture was 4 beds.
Joey made us a sofa out of a door painted black on cement blocks painted black. One 16 in TV on Black cement blocks.
He was living there when he met Patsy or that was the first time I met her.
Remember coming to Rome after they started their business.
He was always a joy to be around.

Joey has been my friend for 60+ years. I have many cherished memories of those years.
We first met in our teens on Daytona Beach over a Spring Break type occasion. We discovered that we were both from Metro Atlanta and lived on opposite sides of the city but we both frequented some of the same places back home in the Atlanta area. Ultimately, we became roommates and went from being pals to close friends.
Then our lives took us in different directions but Joey and I remained in touch even though we seldom actually saw each. When we would chat on the phone it was just like we had not been apart. We would swap business stories, chat about our families, laugh about old fun times, discuss work, music, festivals, guitars, and of course fishing.
I vividly remember Joey's phone call the day he decided to start his own business with only about $500 between him and Patsy. He was terrified, and rightly so, but he and Patsy made it happen. I was so thrilled for them.
I also remember the very sad day he phoned me from Memphis following his cancer surgery. His surgeons told him he was terminal and to go home and get his affairs in order, beause he didn't have long - he was 43 at the time. I cried after that phone call. But I wasted my tears. He recently turned 80 - Incredibly resilient!
Joey dearly loved his family and friends and I believe all of us now have that special corner of our hearts where memories of Joey will remain forever.
I love you Joey my friend. You made me cry again.

Jimmy and Debbie I’m sorry to hear of Joey’s passing. I have held good memories of your Mom and Grandparents (Gossett) on Neely Ave. and enjoying being there. Your brother was a kind and good friend as we went through high school life (and then somehow became adults). I have so many wonderful memories! I grew up with Kelley, and we went to Pleasant Valley South. One of my favorite memories is a time we were camping, & I won a game of Twenty Questions with the answer, " armadillo." I'll never forget the look on Mr. Jordan's face! He loved to laugh, & I'm sure Heaven is ringing with his laughter now. Love and prayers to Patsy, Kelley, & Jody.
