Martha Ragland Obituary
Mrs. Ragland was born in Rome, Georgia on September 8, 1948, daughter of the late Turner Lee Highfield and the late Mattie Myrtle Freeman Highfield. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Michael David Ragland, on March 16, 2019, and by six siblings, Mildred Kelly, Marie Evans, Frances "Honey" Otting, Dorothy Dover, Larry Highfield, and Charles Higfield. Mrs. Ragland was a graduate of East Rome High School. Prior to retirement, she was an office manager for the Floyd County Water Department. Mrs. Ragland was a member of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church. She loved watching football and loved her dogs.
Survivors include a daughter, Bekki Fox (Eric); four grandchildren, Caleb Parris, Mattie Parris White (Drue), and their father, Bryan Parris, Nick Fox, and Erica Fox; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Dale Byars officiating and Mrs. Patty Stephens delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Cave Spring Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday from 12pm until 1:45pm.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday at 1:30pm and include: Doug Dover, Douglas Dover, Chuck Evans, Ethan Evans, Byron Dover, and Randy Lacey.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the arrangements.

I'm so very sorry to hear about Martha's passing. I don't get the newspaper and rarely check obits, so apologies that I didn't know about it. She is happy now and home with Mike. God bless the family.

Martha was a kind person who I remember fondly from high school. I enjoyed talking to her on Facebook, especially about the pets, Miss Lucy. I bought the book that Mike wrote about his family, including the pets. She would talk about her pain. I can empathize. She loved the Lord and her faith kept her going. She fought a good fight. My condolences to Bekki and the entire family. Gail Thurman, friend.

Just 2 days ago I had thoughts of Martha, very strong ones. I had decided to msg Becki and ask about Martha. Then I saw the post about her passing. I remember what a good Christian woman she was. We would sit in Church together, sometimes giggling and getting the "look" from Mike. She loved him and all the dogs. My thoughts are with the family, but I know that she is no longer in pain. She is, as the song goes--"Strolling Over Heaven With You"(Mike). May God Bless the family in their loss.
