Ruby Joyce Beard Burns

Ruby Joyce Beard Burns, 91, died on Thursday, August 11th, 2022 at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain Hospice after a short illness. Affectionately known as "Joyce" by her friends, family, and even her grandchildren, Joyce was the matriarch of her family. Born in Armuchee, GA, she attended Armuchee High School, married her high school sweetheart, and eventually settled in Marietta, GA. She worked at Piedmont Baptist Church for many years as the financial secretary and in her later years would become a devoted member of her local baptist community at First Baptist Church Marietta. Joyce enjoyed lengthy phone calls with loved ones, adorable babies, going to the beauty shop every week, country buffets, and devoting her life to God. She found her creative side in the art of crochet, and if you were fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of her beautiful work you know that her afghans and baby blankets are something to be treasured for years to come.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth "Clifford" (Or KC) Burns, her first granddaughter Lacey Anne Burke, brothers Fred and Willard Beard, and parents Griffin and Irene Beard. She is survived by her sister Doris Miller, her two daughters Cheryl Grier and Marsha Burke (Greg), her four grandchildren Jesse Grier (Carlie), Justin Grier (Kristen), Lindsey Clare (Brian) and Chelsea Berens (Joshua), and two great grandchildren, Kenneth "KC" Grier and Cecilia Grier (due in October). Ms. Joyce always had a smile and a sweet giggle for everyone that she encountered. She always had a story to tell and an endless amount of love to share.

Please join us on Monday, August 15th, 2022 at Marietta First Baptist Church in the chapel at 2pm (with visitation preceding at 1pm) to celebrate the life of a woman that touched the hearts of countless individuals.
