Anthony Lattanzio Obituary

Anthony G Lattanzio of Apex, North Carolina passed away on October 21, 2025 at the age of 94. He was born on October 13, 1931 in Rome, New York where he resided before moving to North Carolina in 2007. He graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1950. He was an Air Force Veteran, serving from 1950 until 1954.

He worked as a radar technician at Griffis Air Force Base until his retirement. After he retired, he worked driving school bus for people with special needs for Birnie Bus Service in Rome. He was actively involved in the Toccalana Club and Galliano Club in Rome, NY.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Pasquale Lattanzio of Rome, sisters Lucy Lattanzio, Palma Lattanzio, Mary DiCaprio and her husband Joe, Elvira Cretaro and her husband Edward, Helen Litwin and her husband Paul, Theresa Brusa and her husband John, brother Patsy Lattanzio and cousins JJ, Rusty, Tony, and Ralph DiCastro and Nettie D'Arrigo. He is survived by his wife Sophie, daughters Donna Lattanzio and husband Randy Fehr of Hershey, PA and Carole Tomasi and spouse John Morison of Cary NC, grandchildren Maya Kosoff, Jackie Kosoff, Lily Kosoff, Alex Tomasi, Katie Patrick and husband Nolan, great grandchildren Braedyn, Sophia, and Stella. He is also survived by Daniel Drewnowski of Laguna Beach, CA, Victor Drewnowski and his wife Mary of Canal Winchester, OH, Stan Drewnowski and his wife Dawn of Punta Gorda, FL, Cousins Tony Simiele and his wife Connie, Arlene Johnson, Ernie Simiele, Elaine Ryan and husband JR, and Lucille Johnson and husband Bobby, nieces and nephews Joe Brusa and wife Jackie, Rose Morgan and husband Tom, Maria Lee and husband Rick, Elena Sewall and husband Michael, Liz Brusa, Pat Brusa and wife Cheryl, John Brusa Jr and wife Joanne, Ed Cretaro and wife Karen, Pat DiCaprio and wife Maria, Rose Gualterri, Joe DiCaprio, Rachel Juday and husband Joel. Special family friends Liz and Louis Voci, and Frank George.

He cherished spending time with his family and friends, sharing his favorite high school stories about Lappinger and Ruthie, and filling his home with the comforting aromas of his famous meatballs and freshly baked pizzelles. He loved playing the lottery, cheering on the Yankees and Syracuse basketball, and reminiscing over classic tunes from Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, and Petula Clark's "Put Your Shoes on, Lucy."

A husband of 63 years and proud grandfather, he never missed an opportunity to celebrate his grandchildren's accomplishments. Evenings were often spent watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy with his wife. He was known for enjoying many meals of chicken parmesan, a game of bocce, and-true to form-always keeping careful track of the time. He fulfilled his wish to have his children be first generation college educated.

The family would like to thank caregivers turned family, Susan Williams, Katrina Smith, Bridget Clark, Tracy Gresko, Caitlyn Gresko, and Sarah Hardy for the care and compassion they showed him in his final days. A special thank you to the Eucharistic ministers from St. Andrews who visited him at home.

Family and friends are invited to attend a service at St. Andrew's Church Apex, NC on November 6th at 11am. Interment to follow at St. Andrew Columbarium with reception after in the church hall. Service can viewed virtually at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMh2vzehVKY

My mom (Nettie DiCastro- D´Arrigo) was proud to call him cousin. She loved when he´d stop by with his pizzelles and we all especially loved his roast peppers. Condolences to Sophie and all his family. (He´s with the Lord now and lounging with Joann George.)
