Colleen Angell Zeller

1936 - 2023

Colleen Angell Zeller, 86, of Ransom Avenue, Sherrill, passed away early Sunday morning, March 12, 2023, in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Utica, where she had been a patient on comfort care for the past week.
Born in Syracuse on May 12, 1936, she was the daughter of Earl C. and Muriel White Angell. A lifelong resident of the area, Colleen was a graduate of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School, Class of 1954 and SUNY Brockport, Class of 1958. She married Robert J. Zeller in St. Peter's Lutheran Church on August 9, 1958. Mr. Zeller died on June 28, 2020. Prior to her retirement, Colleen was a Physical Education teacher for the Oneida City School District. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where she was active as a Sunday School teacher, the Altar Guild, the choir and an advisor for the former Luther League. Colleen enjoyed crafts, traveling and her grandchildren.
Surviving are one daughter, Suzanne (Robert) Cummings, of Pittsford; two grandchildren, Thomas Cummings and his fiancée, Gabriella Bussani and Lauren Cummings; one sister, Rita (Wayne) Wood, of Sherrill; one brother, Neil C. (Diane) Angell, of Higginsville; two sisters-in-law, June Zeller, of Verona and Bliss Newcomb, of Oneida Castle.
She was predeceased by a son, Robert Zeller Jr. on September 28, 1965; and a brother, Ralph W. Angell on June 3, 2022.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 20, 2023 from St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 4897 Old Oneida Road, Verona, with the Reverend Katie Yahns, officiating. Interment will be made in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida, on Sunday, from 1-5 p.m.
