Cynthia Beckwith Obituary

Cynthia M. Beckwith, age 73, of Rome, passed away on September 25, 2025, at the Wynn Hospital following a brief illness.

Cynthia was born in Massena, NY on October 5, 1951, to the late Sylvester and Geraldine Dillinger LaBarge, and graduated from Massena High School. On August 22, 1970, she was united in marriage to Howard J. Beckwith, Jr. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rome; a blessed union of nearly 36 years until his passing on July 27, 2006. Cynthia worked as a bus driver for the Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency.

Cynthia enjoyed puzzles, especially word searches, and games. She was a fan of the Wizard of Oz and liked to collect frog items.

Cynthia is survived by her sons, Terry Beckwith, Howard (Theresa) Beckwith, and Gary (Amy) Beckwith all of Rome; her very special granddaughters, Adriana and Victoria Beckwith; her sister, Ethel Mae Ward; her brothers, Sylvester (Keitha) LaBarge, Gary (Sherry) LaBarge, and William (Phyllis) LaBarge; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers and sisters in law. She was predeceased by her sisters, Barbara Bruce and Ida "Sally" Carman; and her brother, Elwood "Peanut" (Jeannine) LaBarge.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the MVHS Dialysis Center at Mohawk Glen for their care and compassion shown to Cynthia and her family.

In keeping with Cynthia's wishes, her funeral services will be private.

Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
