David C. Smith

1945 - 2025

David C. Smith, age 80, of Rome, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday December

28, with family by his side. He was born on March 31, 1945, in Ilion, NY, a son of

Richard and Eunice (Deuel) Smith. David graduated from Whitesboro High School and

then served proudly, in the United States Air Force from 1965 - 1969.

On December 27, 1969, he was united in marriage to Karen A. Amos at Saint Peter's

church in North Utica. David worked at General Electric, PAR Technology, and later

Marcy Correctional Facility, retiring in 2005.

He was a member of the Oriskany American Legion, as well as the Oriskany Volunteer

Fire Department. David enjoyed wintering in Biloxi, MS, RV traveling, eventually making

it to all 50 states. He especially enjoyed his yearly trip to Lake Berthalot, Canada, as

well as deer hunting, and salmon fishing, an all-around and avid outdoorsman.

Surviving is his beloved wife, Karen; sons, Jeffrey Smith, of Atlanta, GA, and Todd

Smith (Jaime Knout) of Rome, NY; grandchildren, Nathan, Jase, and Brynlee Smith, as

well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents,

Richard and Eunice; as well as his eight siblings.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of Bethany Gardens.

Friends are invited to call on the family on Sunday January 4, from 2-4 PM, a service for

David will immediately follow the visitation.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation is David's name to either Wounded Warrior

Project or the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral

home.
