Frances Murawski Obituary

Frances A. Murawski, 96, of New York Mills, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024. She was surrounded by the love and comfort of her family in her daughter Donna's home who served as her devoted caretaker for the last 10 years.

Born on March 3, 1928, in New York Mills, NY, Frances was the 4th child of seven children born to the late Thomas and Hedwige (Szot) Rosinski. On April 12, 1947, Frances married Edward S. Murawski in St. Mary's Church. They shared a blessed union of 56 years prior to his passing on January 11, 2004.

Frances was employed in several positions including working at her Uncle Frank's liquor store and card shop, Rosinski's Liquors; waitressing at Scholl's Hotel, providing medical secretarial services for Arthur S. Coriale, MD, for Anderson-Little as a tailor, and working from her home as a seamstress doing anything from simple alterations to making her daughters' wedding gowns.

She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed watching tennis and golf, was an avid Syracuse Basketball fan, and always savored a good dessert (a Rosinski family trait). She was a member of the New York Mills Senior Center.

Frances is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Cathy (Tom) Tomlinson and Donna (Frank) Lacatena; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas (Barbara) Rosinski and "Baby Brother" and sister-in-law, Daniel (Pat) Rosinski; grandchildren, Alan Tateel, Ben (Kailey) Tateel, Beth (Joseph) Tateel-Pucci, and Lisa Saladino; special niece, Patty (Bill) Gibson and her children, Corey (Stephanie) and Ian Rotunno; Goddaughter, Michelle Hill and her sister, MaryLynn Shepherd, cousin, Patricia (John) Decker; step-granddaughter, Amelia Tomlinson, and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves several dear friends: J.R. and Patty Russo, Karen Alessandrini, Sue Teti, Roberta Colwell, Linda Lazore, Sandy Fenk, Jody Pecor, and Marie Tata. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Jane (Edward) Zalewski and Gertrude Pridmore; brothers, Edward and Theodore Rosinski, In-laws, Lillian and Edward Murawski, Helen and Lawrence Redmond, Delores and Jack Jecko, Warren Rotunno, Frank Lacatena, III and best friend, Aileen Kulpa.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday from 4-6 p.m. at McGrath, Myslinski, Kowalczyk & Nunn Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd., Utica. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Following her burial family and friends are invited to attend a memorial breakfast at Hart's Hill Inn at 11:00 a.m. in Whitesboro.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Frances' name may be made to Anita's Stevens-Swan Humane Society (www.anitas-sshs.org). Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Her daughter, Donna, would like to give a special thanks to Sue Teti and Marie Tata for assisting her with her mother's care over the last few years. Frances' family would like to thank the care team at Wynn Hospital, Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., Dr. Thang Le, MD, Dr. Mark Hobaica, DPM, and Dr. Stanley Rosinski, DDS, for their care and compassion.
