Gabriel C. "Gabe" Streiff

1950 - 2023

Gabriel ""Gabe"" C. Streiff, age 72, of the Town of Floyd, passed away, peacefully at home, on May 4, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Gabe was born in Rome on December 7, 1950, to the late Willard and Minnie Pfohl Streiff. He graduated from Holland Patent Central School and went on to earn his Associate's Degree from MVCC. On March 25, 2000, he was united in marriage to the former Beth Schwertfeger. Gabe worked at Hayner Hoyt in Syracuse, as a supervisor, for 33 years. Some of his proudest accomplishments were overseeing the construction of many of the Turning Stone's facilities. After his retirement, he continued working for the Town of Floyd. Gabe was a 47 member of the Floyd Fire Department and was chairman of the fire department's commissioners for many years.
He loved to camp, travel with his family and enjoyed woodworking at home.
Gabe is survived by his loving wife, Beth; daughters, Tamara (Matthew) Schreyer, of Floyd, Melanie Streiff, of Floyd and Brittany (Ryan) Parr, of CO; grandchildren, Jesse, Alexis, Calvin III, Hadley and Brida; sisters, Minnie (Maynard Hamilton) Streiff, Shirley (Robert) Hobin, Mary (Larry) Hobin and Betty Anne (Joe) Gasper; brothers, Willard (Donna) Streiff Jr., Charles (Elaine) Streiff, John Streiff and Fred (Sue) Streiff; brother-in-law, James Joslin; sister-in-law, Kathy Streiff; and many nieces and nephews.
Gabe was predeceased by his grandson, Otto; sister, Marilyn Joslin; brothers, Raymond and Edward Streiff; and his first wife, Georgia Elaine Ray Streiff.
Gabe's funeral will be held on Thursday, May 11, at 11 a.m. at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in Floyd Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
