Gerald (Jerry) A. Litz, 88, of Holland Patent passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Pines at Utica Center.

He was born on December 8, 1936, in Mannsville, NY a son of the late Anabelle Litz Rusaw. He served his country with honor in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958.

On July 30, 1960, he was united in marriage to Rae Pamela Smith, a blessed union of over 63 years, Mrs. Litz passed away on March 29, 2024.

Mr. Litz was a printer by trade having been employed with many local printers including Dodge Graphic Press, Vicks Litho and Valley Offset. He later began his own business called Impulse Bindery in Utica; this was a very successful book binding business that he ran for many years.

He was a communicant of the First Presbyterian Church of Holland Patent, and the American Legion Clonan Post 1000 in Chadwicks.

He is remembered by his family as a hardworking, provider who cherished his family and the time that he spent with them. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending their winter in Estero, Fl. and their summers at their summer home on the St. Lawrence River. He also enjoyed fishing, basketball and coaching baseball. He was a proud American and Veteran and proud to be a member of the local Veterans Hometown Heros. He also loved music and loved to sing. He will be sadly missed by his many family members and friends.

He is survived by his children, Jeanne Litz of Sauquoit, Jeffrey (Christine) Litz of Floyd, and Leelaine (Janet) Kury of Fl. He also leaves his adored grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as "Bampie", Austin Litz, Kelsea Litz, Collin Litz, Joseph Kury, Jessica Hodge, great grandchildren, Wrenley, Stephen, Toby, Logan, and Lily, and a great great granddaughter, Everleigh. He leaves his siblings, Edith, Marlene, Kenneth, David, Donald, Steven and Pamela, also his two feline companions who never left his side "Bert" & "Ernie". He is predeceased by his siblings, Richard Litz, Sandra Grant, and brother-in-law, Perry Gillette and a sister- in- law, Joanne Eisenhut.

The family wishes to sincerely thank his caretakers Leah and Jim Patterson for the wonderful care and compassion given to Gerald over the years.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Smith Funeral Home 3022 Oneida St n Sauquoit. A service will follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Steve Vance of the First Presbyterian Church in Holland Patent. Interment with Military Honors will be private in the Sauquoit Valley Cemetery.
