Isabel Margaret Nackley

NEW HARTFORD – Mrs. Isabel Margaret (Saba) Nackley, age 93, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024, with her loving family by her side.

Isabel was born on September 27, 1930 and raised in the Capron section of Utica, a daughter of the late Abraham and Mary (Boulos) Saba. She was educated in local schools and graduated, as an honor student, from Utica Free Academy. She was married in St. Louis Gonzaga Church to James J. Nackley, a loving union of 43 years until his passing. They raised seven children and were blessed with eighteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Isabel was a devoted mother and "Iyna" to her family. She loved entertaining family and friends at their home and enjoyed making all the traditional Lebanese cuisine for them. Isabel took up the game of tennis as a young grandmother and was an avid player, outrunning her younger teammates on the court. Isabel's favorite expression was "I am blessed" and she was indeed.

Isabel is survived by her children and their spouses, Mary (Dominick) DeAngelo, Gail Uebelhoer, Sandra (Mark) Barr, Elizabeth (Susan Russell) Nackley, Susan (Mark) Mojave and Dr. James (Dr. Anna) Nackley; daughter-in-law, Victoria Nackley Battin; sister, Edwina (Martin) Young; and two sisters-in-law, Rose Saba and Susan (Nackley) Moran. Isabel is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Kristen, Jennifer, Kevin, Michael, Mary Terese, Elizabeth, Mark, Luke, Meredith, Jocelyn, Phillip, Alexandra, Jacqueline, Evan, Madison, Isabel, Elise and James; and great-grandchildren, Ella, Mia, Michael, Dominick, Maximilian, Kara, Julie, Taylor, Leila, Marissa, Grace, Thomas, Katherine, Alice, Beatrice, Evelyn and June.

Isabel was predeceased by her son, Michael Nackley (2011); son-in-law, Bernard Uebelhoer (2015); and siblings, Sadie, Vicky, Joe, Rahja, Fannie, Mary, Kate and Bea.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Isabel's Funeral Service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Louis Gonzaga Church, 520 Rutger St., where the Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed will be celebrated by Father Boutros El Hachem. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of the Service. Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
