Skyler Jay Ostberg

1994 - 2025

Skyler Jay Ostberg 30, of Blackfoot passed away on Wednesday September 17, 2025 from a sudden illness. Skyler graduated from Snake River high school in 2013. Skyler loved the outdoors, hunting, shooting guns, riding motorcycles, and playing with anything that had 4 wheels, a big motor and made lots of noise, the more noise, the better. As a young boy Skyler was outgoing, friendly to everyone, and he would say Hi! to everyone no matter where we were, his mother often worried someone would scoop him up and kidnap him as he was such an adorable, smiley, and happy kid. Skyler joined cub scouts and had accumulated quite a collection of camping equipment by selling popcorn for his scout troop. Skyler loved camping and dirt bike riding with his parents and friends, and he was always the official tender of the campfire.

Skyler's love for shooting led to one of the biggest tragedies in his life when two days before his twentieth birthday a rifle exploded in his face and took the sight of his left eye. This was a constant source of pain and discouragement for the rest of his life; however, he continued to excel as an auto mechanic even with his physical limitations.

Skyler had a big heart, he never met a stranger, was a true friend to everyone he met, and he was deeply loyal to each one. If he knew you, you were important to him, and you mattered. He always saw the best in people and he regularly went out of his way to help others, and to make others around him smile or laugh.

Skyler was an accomplished auto mechanic, and was currently working for Stones Hyundai in Pocatello at the time of his death.

Skyler is survived by his parents Steven and Vicky Berggren of Blackfoot, two children Steven Jay Ostberg and Aneatra June Ostberg of Idaho Falls, and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Skyler was preceded in death by his grandparents; Verdus and Carol Ostberg, Glen and Doris Berggren, and his Uncle Tony.

Skyler will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the Blackfoot Calvary Chapel, 689 S. Fisher Avenue in Blackfoot, with Pastor Mike Eld, officiating. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Services are under direction of Hawker Funeral Home.
