John Smith Obituary

John Smith, III, 67, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023. He was born in Rome on December 14, 1955, a son of the late John and Mary (Trophia) Smith.

John was a huge sports fan and he loved watching the Yankees and Giants games on TV. He was also an avid chess player.

John in survived by a sister, Antonetta Prosser (Stanley); beloved brother, Paul Smith, with whom he resided; and two nephews, Kris and Kirk.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 11th at 6:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc. 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday prior to the service from 4-6:00 p.m.

I met John at the bus stop and he always said good morning. I saw him and his brother , Paul, and we started talking. John told me how he liked chocolate chip cookies so I started making them cookies. John will be greatly missed as he was very pleasant to talk with. Ann & Larry Murphy
