Joseph Giotto Obituary

Joseph J. Giotto, 93, of Utica, passed away, peacefully, with the love of his family by his side, on Saturday, December, 27, 2025.

Joseph was born in Utica, on June 25, 1932, a son of the late Frank and Philomena (Lawrence) Giotto. He attended local schools and was a 1950 graduate of Utica Free Academy and later attended Utica College of Syracuse University. Joe shared life and marriage with the former Madeline Jean "Madge" Tortorella for over 52 years, until her passing on June 19, 2019. During the Korean War, Joseph served our country, as a squad leader, in the US Army. He was employed in the radio receiver department of General Electric until his retirement.

Joe was a proud member of the American Legion, both the Fort Schuyler Post of East Utica and Post 229 of North Utica.

A good hearted and loyal man, Joseph enjoyed the opera, bowling, sitcoms and was an avid sports fan. Joe was truly one of a kind. He was known for his immense heart and treating everyone he met with unwavering respect and kindness. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, cherishing each moment with gratitude and warmth that touched all who knew him. His genuine appreciation for the little things served as an inspiration to those fortunate enough to share his journey.

A loving dad and family man, his presence will be deeply missed by his two beloved daughters and their partners, Lynn Giotto and Matthew Jarvis and JoAnn Giotto and Mike Vitale; a sister-in-law, Irene Giotto; nieces and nephews, Frank and Kristine Giotto, Elizabeth Giotto, Carol Talento and Phyllis and Chuck Alderwick; and also many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brother, Andrew Giotto; and sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Larry Connor.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 10 a.m., from St. Peter's Church, North Utica. The family will greet guests following Mass. Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum.
