Lyle Stevenson Obituary
In 1966, he married Nelda Groff. Their love story spanned nearly six decades and resulted in a loving family that was the center of Lyle's world.
Lyle was a proud United States Marine who served his country during the Vietnam War. He was deeply honored to have participated in a Chicago Honor Flight, a recognition he cherished.
Following his military service, Lyle worked for the City of Rome, New York, in the codes office as a plumbing and building inspector for both commercial and residential properties. After retiring from the city, he moved to Indiana to be closer to family.
Lyle was a member of the Hobart Marine Corps League, Rome Hook & Ladder, and a life member of the Rome Elks Club.
Lyle will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a caring brother and uncle. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda Stevenson; his daughters, Debra Stevenson and Cynthia (Jeffrey) Duca; and his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Duca and Claire Duca. He is also survived by his sisters, Patty McFarlane, Linda (David) Dishlacoff, Carol (Stephen) Arbes, and Barbara (Michael) Carey LaPointe; his sister-in-law, Pamela Groff; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lyle was born to Lyle Stevenson Sr. and Myrna (Meyer) Stevenson, who preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his brother-in-law, Paul Groff.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with the service immediately following at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hobart, Indiana, on January 2, 2026. This service will also be available online at TrinityHobart.org. A private interment will be held in California. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to HonorFlightChicago.org, Trinity Lutheran Church and School, or a charity of your choice.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. I will love you and miss you always. A day doesn't go by that I don't think of you.
Today I am sitting in the Ptsd Meeting that we are talking about you and how we miss you that you are not here.
When I started driving here I for a minute I thought I should pick you up and when I realized that you wouldn't be there tears came to my eyes.
I will miss you and the times that we could share our deepest thoughts and the fears that we both had of what was ahead of us in our lives. We both wanted a quick painless death and you had what we both wanted and I hope the same for me.
