Margaret "Peg" Luker

ROTTERDAM - Margaret "Peg" Luker, 67, was called Home to eternal rest on Thursday, November 6, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Peg was born on March 13, 1958, in Utica, NY, to the late Robert and Bette (McDermott) Albright. Peg was raised in Utica, attending Utica Free Academy. She would go on to fulfill a lifelong dream, following in the footsteps of her mother and become a nurse.

On August 18, 1984, Peg married John Luker, also of Utica, NY. Peg and John were each other's best friends and shared 41 years of marriage together. Peg and John would begin their lives together, moving to Fulton, NY, in which they would raise their three children, Brett, Patrick and Cameron, before later relocating to Rotterdam, NY.

Peg spent many years serving her local community as a compassionate and enthusiastic nurse, most recently at the LaSalle School in Albany, NY. She had previously held several positions in hospitals and outpatient clinics throughout the Central NY region, during her time in Fulton, NY.

Peg was an avid baker and she used this skill for bringing friends and family together. She was well known for her lavish dessert spreads at family holiday celebrations. Her family holds very close memories of Peg in the kitchen, Christmas music playing and the house smelling of whatever confections she was working on that night, during the weeks leading up to Christmas. Peg also enjoyed going on road trips with her family, whether on family vacations along the eastern seaboard or scenic rides through the Adirondacks. To know Peg was to also know her dogs. She had great compassion for the animals that were in the local shelters and absolutely adored the dogs she rescued over her lifetime.

Peg is survived by her loving and devoted husband, John, of Rotterdam, NY; and her three boys, Brett (Rae) Williams, of Oswego, NY, Patrick (Jeanne) Luker, of Glenville, NY and Cameron (Carley) Luker, of Clifton Park, NY. Peg is also survived by seven grandchildren, who were absolutely the sun in her sky, Riley, Aiden, Ryan, Avery, Merrick, Benjamin and Nora. Peg also leaves sisters, Jan (Al) Savoy, of Rome, NY, Pat Saraceno, of Sauquoit, NY and Marianne (Ken) Ellis, of Utica, NY; her brother, Jack Albright, of Whitesboro, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

The Luker family would like to extend the warmest and most sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Teresian House Center for the Elderly in Albany, NY and at The Community Hospice in Albany, NY. Their kindness and support during this time have been invaluable.

Peg's life will be celebrated with family and friends at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY, on Friday, November 14, 2025, with calling hours 1-3 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Peg's family encourages those that knew and loved her to make a gift to the Teresian House, The Community Hospice or a local animal shelter of your choice, in her honor.
