Maureen Pritchard Obituary

The family of Maureen (Green) Pritchard sadly announces her passing on November 11, 2025.

Maureen was born on July 2, 1935, in Utica, NY, the first child of the late John and Ann (Lynch) Green. Maureen attended Our Lady of Lourdes Grammar School and was a 1953 graduate of Utica Catholic Academy. After graduation, she embarked on a long 34-year career with "The Phone Company", starting first, with NY Telephone Co., then transitioned to NYNEX, then AT&T and eventually retiring from Lucent Technologies in 1997. During her tenure she served first as a telephone operator, then as a systems analyst and eventually serving as a head project manager. Some of the highlights of her career included working at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, NY, where she facilitated all communications for the international press covering the games. She created communication systems for Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, Cornell University and many more organizations. She attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology and North Dakota State University.

On April 30, 1960, she married the love of her life and her soulmate, Robert (Bob) G. Pritchard at Our Lady of Lourdes in Utica, NY. Maureen and Bob lived in Ilion, Utica, eventually settling in Clinton in 1968, where they happily raised their family. They shared a wonderful and loving union for over 65 years. In addition to her professional successes as a career woman, Maureen was an incredibly devoted mother and an ardent supporter of St. Mary's School, Clinton Youth Hockey, Clinton Figure Skating Club and Clinton Pop Warner Football. She traveled all over the Northeast and Canada on many hockey trips, foraging friendships that would last forever. She served as a cub scout den mother and seamstress for the Clinton Figure Skating Club. For years, she served on the annual St. Mary's Christmas Bazaar and published a parish cookbook. Throughout her role as mother and grandmother, she attended years of art and athletic events at Clinton Central Schools. She and Bob were able to enjoy the trip of a lifetime to visit her ancestral home Ireland.

Maureen was a true gourmet cook, a voracious reader of literature and staunch supporter of her entire family. One of her greatest joys in life was cooking and hosting large family get togethers. She always remembered and acknowledged the birthdays of all family, even tertiary relatives.

After bravely fighting an end-of-life illness, Maureen is survived by her loving husband, Bob; daughter, Elegia (Harold) Heintz, of Vernon, NY; and her son, Drs. Patrick (Sonya) Pritchard, of Vestavia Hills, AL. She was a proud and loving "Mimo" to Emily A. Hyde, of Boston, MA, Abigail L. Hyde, of San Francisco, Harold "Boe" Heintz, of Scotia, NY, Alexandra M. Pritchard, of Evanston, IL and Robert B. Pritchard, of Homewood, AL. She is also survived by younger siblings, Marie (Russell) Connors, of Independence, KY, Martin A. Green, of Utica, NY; sister-in-law, Karen Green, of Bay Village, OH; sister-in- law, Barbara (Matt) Dezee, of Spotsylvania, VA; sister-in-law, Patrica Pritchard, of Fredonia, NY; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Maureen was predeceased by her parents, John and Ann Green; infant brothers, Michael and Brian Anthony; her sister, Anne (Nancy) Green; brother, John Green; sister and brother-in-law, Nora and Dan Gossin; brother-in-law, Peter Prtichard; beloved niece, Anne Marie Gossin Claure; and beloved first cousin, Mary Theresa Webb.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 24, at 10 AM, from St. May's Church, Clinton, with a burial immediately following in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Waterville. In accordance with Maureen's wishes, there will be no calling hours.
