Judy, I am so very sorry for your loss. It was my pleasure to serve with Otto for many years on the police department. He was a very kind, respected man. My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

Fond memories of Mr. Panera "crossing" our neighborhood gang across the Boulevard at Thomas Street so we could get to Harvey E. Alter school safely. I believe he took turns with John Carissimo and a very tall John Keys. One day I saw all three of them together at Candyland where my big sister worked. Great memories.
My deep condolences to his family. He touched the hearts of many kids on our walk to school. May God grant him eternal rest.

Rome without doubt has lost a good man; Chief Otto J. Panara..
I worked with Otto for several years, and know his pride in Rome and his loyalty to his life´s passion, the Rome Police Department.
Otto was a mentor to many new officers, and a credit to his family and to the City of Rome. Chief Panara was always ready to help and support efforts to make the RPD a more professional and quality public service.
