Thomas Legg Obituary

Thomas C. Legg, Sr, 81, passed away on December 5, 2022, in the caring hands of the doctors and nurses of St. Elizabeth Medical Center. His wife Joan was by his side.

Thomas was born on April 19, 1941, in Fayetteville, WV, the son of the late Clark Legg and Edith (Hawkins) Legg. Leggs served in the U.S. Navy from 1959-1963. On December 15, 1961, Thomas married his bride of 60 years, Joan (Miller) Legg. When they relocated to Utica in 1963, he worked at Rig All and Oneida County Boiler Works. He had his CDL license and drove tractor-trailers. Thomas later worked at Utica Alloys and helped with the building of their facility in Frankfort, NY before his retirement.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Joan Legg; daughter, Frances (Legg) Lyons; daughter-in-law, Lori Legg; brother, Mark (Elena) Legg; sister-in-law, Deanna Legg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vinny Cicigline, Linda Pulaski, Patricia (Bob) Abraham, Lucien (Linda) Cicigline, Brian King, Kathleen Wells, Robert Kirley, and Jimmy Kirley. He also leaves his adoring grandchildren, Joanne, Jennifer, Ryan, Carmon, and Matthew; three great-grandchildren, Emily, Joseph, and Josh and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Thomas Legg, Jr., in-laws; Lucien and Frances Cicigline Sr.; son-in-law, Kirk Lyons; brother, Aaron Legg; sisters, Marlynn Tesk, and Roseanne King; brothers-in-law, Clesson Miller and Karl (Eileen) Miller, and Al Pulaki. The Locke, Secore, and Perry families were also in his heart. Thomas said he had a good life and if he stated, "I think I know you from somewhere," he did. He had a story and joke to tell.

The Legg family would like to thank the staff of St. Elizabeth Medical Center for the care and compassion that was provided to Thomas and Joan while he was in their care.

With Tom's passing, the world has lost a great man. He was a wealthy person from the sheer amount of knowledge he possessed on many subjects. He was a pleasure to work with and always had a great story to share. He will be missed.

I'm so very sorry to learn of Tom's passing. He was a great guy and probably the best boiler mechanic I've ever worked with. He taught me so much when I was starting out in maintenance business. I used to love hearing his stories of his childhood years and his time in the Navy. He was a very hard worker and a great asset and credit to Oneida County Boiler years ago. When we needed a serviceman for our power house, we always used to specifically request Tom. My deepest condolences to Tom's family. There should be many, many more like him in this crazy world.
