Thomas S. Yocum

1966 - 2024

Marcy - Thomas S. "Tom" Yocum, age 57, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 20, 2024, after a short battle of a rare cancer. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his loving family and close friends.

Born in Rochester, NY on October 6, 1966, Tom was the son of the late Clarence Yocum and Marilyn (Hartson) Yocum.

Raised in Floyd, NY and graduated from Holland Patent High School in 1984. He graduated from Morrisville College with an associate degree in Auto Technology in 1986. From there, following in his dad's footsteps, he embarked in a career in the petroleum industry (pump, tank, and lift).

On October 10th, 1992, he married the former Laura Woodhouse. From the moment she met him she knew that life would never be anything but short of a great time. They balance each other out, if you knew them you would understand.

Following his father's passing he started his own business, Yocum Full Service inc. in 2007. His business prospered over the years with the help of his family and employees.

Over the years Tom and his wife were able to create a beautiful life with their two children, Joel and Sydney. Tom enjoyed cruising in his Camaro, his weekly card games with his close friends, spending time at his home away from home in Sylvan Beach, and vacationing at his condo on St. Pete Beach, Florida. Tom enjoyed many things, but especially his feet in the sand and a cold beer in his hand. Tom and his Sylvan beach family sure knew how to escape the weekly reality and enjoy each other's company and the chaos they brought together.

Tom was a man that never said "no" to any customer, any friend, and especially his family. He was an extremely hardworking man, but his family always came first. Tom never missed any of his children's milestone, including sporting events and academic achievements. There was never a day Tom didn't mention how proud he was as of his children and all their accomplishments thus fair in life. Tom fought the good fight and even on his most challenging days, his humor never left his spirit.

Tom is survived by his wife Laura Yocum, his children; Joel Yocum & Sydney Yocum (Anthony Dalia), his mother Marilyn Yocum, his brother James Yocum, his sister Sandra Yocum, his uncle Ed Yocum (Carol), his mother-in-law Patricia Woodhouse, his sister-in-law Colene Cresant, his niece Dominica Cresant & nephew Nicholas Cresant, his great niece Brinleigh Bartlett, and his lifelong friend John Delahunt, the Delahunt family, close friends, and neighbors.

He was predeceased by his father Clarence Yocum, his sister-in-law Melissa Woodhouse and his family basset hound Molly Yocum.

A special thank you to the Clifford Fuel family and everyone that helped his business flourish over the years. The family also extends heartfelt thanks to the many health care workers who made it possible for Tom to come home and enjoy Skyy Vodka & Bubly and cherish his family and friends his last days here on earth. When you think of Tom the family hopes you enjoy your favorite drink and the beautiful sunsets life has to offer, like Tom always did.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, from 4:00-8:00 p.m., at Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 40 Main St., Whitesboro. Funeral services will be Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home, with Rev. Cindy Makarchuk officiating. Interment will follow in Holland Patent Cemetery.
