In Loving Memory of Thomasina C. Kennedy
February 26, 1939 ~ October 18, 2025
With grateful hearts and deep sorrow, the family of Thomasina Kennedy announces her transition from this life to eternal rest on October 18, 2025, at the blessed age of 89.
A native of Charleston, SC, Thomasina was born on February 26, 1939, to the late Agnes Bennett-Muckle and the late Ben Bennett. She received her early education through the Charleston public school system before relocating to Rome, where she built a life rooted in love, family and faith.
On July 29, 1978, she was united in marriage to the late Reverend Arthur Kennedy, Jr. in the City of Utica. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Reverend Arthur Kennedy, Jr. and we rejoice knowing they are now reunited in the presence of the Lord.
Thomasina was employed by the State of New York at RDC, where she worked diligently until her retirement. Never one to be idle, she continued to serve her community through her work with Birnie Bus Service, as a bus monitor, spreading warmth and kindness to everyone, including children and staff.
Thomasina's life was a reflection of her unwavering faith and devotion to God. As the wife of a reverend, she stood faithfully beside her husband in ministry, supporting him in service to the Lord and His people. She was a pillar of strength, grace and prayer, always ready to lend a helping hand, offer words of encouragement or uplift others through her faith. Her commitment to the church was steadfast and she found joy in worship, fellowship and living out God's word in her daily life.
Thomasina was one of eleven children. She is survived by her loving sisters, Pearl Rutlidge, Margaret Wright (the late Leo Wright, Sr.), Apostle Ruth Middleton Sanders (Bishop Daniel Sanders) (predeceased by the late Apostle Clarence Middleton Sr.), Dolly Mae Ancrum (the late Joseph Ancrum, Sr.), Betty Bennett and Patricia Bennett. She was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Mary Lawrence, Ruby Dingle (the late Poppa Dingle), Lucille Henderson (the late William H. Henderson, Sr.) and Bertha Lee Williams. She also leaves to cherish her memory her devoted children, Isaac (the late Sherelyn) Bennett, II and Beverly (the late Joseph) Holmes. She is reunited, in Heaven, with her beloved daughters, Barbara McCrea and Yvonne Bennett. She also leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family and dear friends who will cherish her memory forever.
Though she has left this earthly place, her spirit rises like the sun and the sun will shine again.
Thomasina's family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 12-1 p.m., at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 203 Erie Blvd., Rome, prior to a Celebration of Life which will commence at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stokes.
