Vicky Scales/Ammon Obituary

Affectionately known as, "The Pooh" or "Pooh Bear", Vicky Lynn Scales/Ammon, 56, of Lee Center, passed away, unexpectedly, on Monday, November 17, 2025.

Vicky was born on September 20, 1969, in Rome, NY, the daughter of Doris Scales (Rasha) and the late John (Jack) Scales. She was the youngest of her two siblings.

Vicky will be fondly remembered as being a very strong and independent person, whose life motto was, "I can do it myself!"

Vicky grew up near Lee CenteR and began her education at West Leyden Elementary School, graduating from Adirondack High School with the Class of 1987. In addition to her independence, Vicky will also be remembered as a very hard working person.

She enjoyed a brilliant career, working in the Medical Records Offices at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica and Rome Memorial Hospital, later retiring as Manager of the Health Information Department at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica. Later, she greatly enjoyed her employment, on a part time basis, for Big Lots Department Store, Rome. Most recently and at the present time, she was employed as a Direct Support Assistant (DSA), at CNYDSO of Rome.

In 1994, she married and later in 1997, her marriage ended in a difficult divorce. From the union, she was blessed with two sons, Trevor and Tyler. The rest of her life revolved around the welfare of those boys and Vicky always worked at two jobs to provide the best for her sons.

Later, in 2013, Vicky moved to Lee Center, where she purchased her own home on Harris Road.

In 2015, Vicky reconnected with her junior prom date, Francis Come, and they were engaged in 2017. This relationship grew over the years into a bond like no other. She also enjoyed a "best friendship," with Jennifer and Bill Shades, who were always there for her throughout the ups and downs of her life. A favored saying of Vicki's was always, "You're the best Jen!"

Vicky loved family time and sitting out by her fire pit at home. She enjoyed camping back on Witzigman Lake, sitting by the fire with her friends, laughing, telling stories and tipping back a few! She always enjoyed her annual family trip to Brantingham Lake.

In 2022, Vicky faced every parents fear - the loss of a child. Her son, Trevor passed away on February 9, 2022, after a tough battle with addiction.

In addition to her mother, Doris Scales, Lee Center, she is survived by her fiancée, Francis Come; one son and daughter-in-law, Tyler and Nicole (Homan) Ammon, Lee Center; two sisters and brothers-in-law, JoAnn (Scales) and Jarret Hunt, Lee Center and Sharon (Scales) and Douglas Finster, Lee Center; three grandchildren, Connor, Natalie and Jace; nieces and nephews, Justin and Michelle Devoe, Amanda and Sasha Andric, Tess and Gere, Claire and Travis; great-nieces and great-nephews, Charlotte. Corbin, Khilee, Kilian and Thea; stepchildren, Heather and Josh Come and the most recent addition, newborn. Teagen.

Vicky was predeceased by her father, Jack, in 1988; brother-in-law, Ted Duell, in 1996; and her son, Trevor, in 2022.

Her Funeral Service will be Friday, November 21, 2025, at 6 PM, at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St., Boonville, with visitation from 3-6 PM. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Town of Lee.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lee Center Volunteer Fire Company or West Leyden Reformed Church, c/o 4546 Mud Lake Rd., West Leyden, NY 13489.

Earlier today

I´ll always love Vicky!! She and I grew up together and we were not very often apart !! We would get on our bikes early in the day and not return until dark. We loved to venture into the woods and look for weird things. We hung out at a place called Lasercade in Lee Center and we were there like it was our second home.. Whenever we could I´d either be spending the night at her house or she would be at mine. Once we started driving we cruised all over the place. We went to a ton of parties together (that our parents knew nothing about).. We were yelled at by each other´s parents on different occasions .. We went to school together and (we skipped some school together.. lol..)all the way up to the day we graduated.. We always always remained friends even as life pulled us in different directions it still always seemed we could pick up our conversations as if we never missed a beat. She was an amazing friend. I will miss her so much!! I will always love you girl... and one day we will hang out again.. But for now rest easy and take in all the beauty and peacefulness that God gives you in Heaven...

Yesterday

Our deepest condolences go out to all who knew and loved dear Vickie. Vicky was always a joy to us, her uncle and aunt. She would visit us in S Florida and we would do everything we could think of fun, fancy manicures, canoeing and laughing when is started to rain, we went out on the town to disco, joking and laughing, swimming in our pool. I remember sitting with her around her campfire at her house. We dearly loved Vickie, sweet Pooh Bear and will miss her. Gone way too soon. Sending Love to All
