Wendy Gregory Obituary

Our dear sister, aunt, cousin, friend passed away quietly with family by her side at the Presbyterian Home. Wendy was born December 1951, daughter of Frank and Eleanor Morey. She was raised in Alder Creek and Floyd. In tune with nature from birth and fiercely independent, she lived her life in her own way. She was always outdoors, and gardening, loving the world around her.

In 1969 She Graduated from Holland Patent High School, known for her big smile and athletic sports. She attended Morrisville Community College studying animal husbandry and horticulture. She loved animals, her basset hounds and horses, and birds. A devout Christian, she enjoyed reading her Bible, sharing her Lord; she had wonderful Poland Baptist Church friends.

Most of her dreams were fulfilled when she married Harold Gregory and together they ran Wilde Wind Farm. She boarded, trained and showed horses, winning many blue ribbons and becoming a Grand Champion at NYS Fair riding Morgan horses, English and western. She loved giving riding lessons to all ages. They created her Forever Wild wildlife sanctuary on Kennedy Rd, establishing a pond, with her Adirondack hand hewed lean to. Later on she drove school bus at HPCS and Whitesboro.

Wendy was an avid fly fisherman, kayaker who spent many days on the Black River, West Canada or Camping Moose River Plains with her dog. Only she could meet up with a mother bear and cubs and slowly back away!

Her favorite memories were from going to Florida to fish with Bonnie and Skip, going out west to stay at a dude ranch and great fun was had going to Yellowstone / Montana with Debbie.

She leaves behind sisters, Bonnie Swisher, Debbie (Macaire) Hanley, brothers, Carl Morey and Tim (Linda) Morey and many nieces and nephews. \She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and brother in law, Ken "Skip" Swisher.

Throughout life, although we were all different, we were all alike. She will be greatly missed by everyone. Our hearts go out to anyone dealing with dementia/Alzheimer's disease.

Special acknowledgment to the PRC and Presbyterian Residential Community. Especially Dory, Sue, Matt, Julitte, Jennifer, Alyssa, Victor, Rhonda, Trista, Marci, Jamie and the ENTIRE staff of the Home.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial service on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 2 pm at Floyd Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1 pm until the time of services. Arrangements are with Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 40 Main St., Whitesboro.

Always told her she was born far too late, she was a cowgirl from head to toe. Most beautiful smile and huge tender heart. Always felt good after seeing her. She is home now and I am sure just in awe of all she is seeing. Wendy, you will forever be in my heart!
