Alma "Jean" Sautel, 87, of N. Ft. Myers, FL and Rockford, IL died August 16, 2016, at Hospice of Lehigh Acres, FL. She was born June 17th, 1929, in Huntington, TN, to Earnie and Gladys Rechtin. Jean lived most of her life in Rockford, IL. She graduated from East High School, Class of '47. She was very active at Broadway United Methodist Church, serving as Youth Fellowship Leader, Women's Club Member and various committees. She was also very active in the community, serving as a Contact Crisis Worker, Steven's Ministry Worker and Swedish American Hospital Volunteer Chaplin. She had many friends and was known for her laughter and fun loving nature. She had a big heart and a nurturing spirit to all she met. She is survived by her daughters, Karen and Julie Sautel of Fort Myers, FL; granddaughter, Melissa (Charles) Youts of Fort Worth, TX; daughter-in-law, Patricia (Patrick) Sautel-Slater of Culpepper, VA; nieces, Jill (Scott) Kulow and Pam Pauletto of Rockford, IL. She is predeceased by her parents, Earnie and Gladys Rechtin; husband, Richard Sautel; son, Steven Sautel; brother, Charles and sister-in-law, Ronene Rechtin. She will have many friends and family to greet her on her journey home.
Memorial services will be held in N. Ft. Myers, FL at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 2951 Trail Dairy Circle, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 4th, and in Rockford, IL at (Broadway) Centennial United Methodist Church, 1503 Broadway, at 2 p.m. October 8th, as we celebrate her life.
