arlene j. swansbro, 86 Loving Wife, Mother, grandma and Great-Grandma ROCKFORD - Arlene J. Swansbro, 86, of Rockford passed away at 8:20 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at Morning Star Village. Born July 27, 1926, in Rockford, daughter of Lloyd A. and Grace E. (Keye) Whale. Graduate of East High School, Class of 1944. Attended Carthage (Ill.) College. She married Richard D. Swansbro on Sept. 18, 1948, in Rockford; he died in July 1991. Arlene worked as a secretary and a librarian at Froberg School for 22 years. She was a lifelong member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she participated in the Widow's Reachout Group, Norton Guild Circle, and the Video Library. Survived by sons, Richard L. (Linda) Swansbro and William L. (Kim) Swansbro; precious granddaughters, Alison (Dayton) Smith, Shannon (Carson) Dew, Mandi (Adam) Peterson, Kelly (fiancé Nick Pelch) Swansbro and Sara Swansbro; great-granddaughters, Kennedy and Cassidy Smith and Makenzi Peterson; half-brothers, Alan (Coleen) Whale and Steve (Cindy) Whale; brother-in-law, Donald (Charlene) Swansbro; sister-in-law, Janice (Walter) Lambert; special cousin, Gloria (Bob) Nelson; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2821 Bell School Road, with visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m.; the Rev. Dr. William Ward will officiate.
