Barbara Kinney Obituary

Barbara A. Kinney 1925—2018
Barbara A. Kinney, 92, of Rockford passed peacefully on May 1, 2018. Born December 6, 1925, in Rockford, the daughter of William L. and Hazel (Lawson) Kinney. Barbara graduated from East High School in 1943. She began working at Barber Colman Company in 1944, retiring in 1988 as Benefits Administrator. Lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was involved with the Altar Guild, Linda Hallberg Circle, and Day Care Auxiliary. She was a full-time volunteer at Brightside adult day care through R.S.V.P. Past member of several women's golf groups including the Ingersoll 9 Hole Golf League. She found great pleasure in children, music and travel. She is survived by her great-niece and committed caregiver, Karin Beck; and generations of nieces and nephews. Heartfelt appreciation to her faithful friend, Elsie Carlson. Predeceased by parents; sisters, Isabel Crosby, and Betty Mabie; and brothers, William and Robert Kinney.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. May 12, 2018, in Trinity Lutheran, 200 N 1st St., Rockford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Center for Sight & Hearing, 8038 Macintosh Ln. Will miss seeing Barb at Trinity Lutheran Church on Sunday mornings. She was a lovely lady and it was always nice to visit with her.

Barbara was a member of our Low Vision Social & Recreation Group at the Center for Sight & Hearing for many, many years. She was loved by everyone in our group. Barbara was a special lady and will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Karin and other family members.
