Calvin Gustafson Obituary
Calvin Ray Gustafson, 90, passed away July 1, 2017, at his home in Rockford, Illinois. Cal was born July 16, 1926, in Rockford, to Robert and Ethel (Wallin) Gustafson. A lifelong resident of Rockford, Cal served honorably in the U. S. Army Air Forces during the Second World War. He was married to Marilyn Stewart in April of 1952. They became the proud parents of two daughters, Gayle and Kim, and one son, Kurt. A successful businessman, Cal owned and operated The Cliff Soper Company for many years. Marilyn died in 1965, and Cal was a single parent until he remarried Jo Ann Hynes in 1990. Cal and Jo enjoyed traveling, following Chicago sports franchises, and spending time with family. Cal is survived by his three children, Gayle, Kim, and Kurt; his wife, Jo Ann; and Jo Ann's daughters, Pam and Kris.
A private graveside service will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials to Air Force Aid Society, www.afas.org, and Rockford Rescue Mission, www.rockfordrescuemission.org.

I am so sorry for your loss. Cousin Cal and my dad were best friends and it was great to see Dad sparkle when he talked about getting together with Cal. I have fond memories of Cal and Jo Ann dancing at my sister Buff's wedding many years ago. Sending lots of love from all the Cary Wallins.

I am deeply sorry for your loss.
Cal was the best friend our father ever had. We grew up on stories of Cal and Lou in the Rockford days of their youth. The Wallin's remember Cal with love and respect.
