Charles Olson

CHARLES L. OLSON, 87 ROCKFORD - Charles L. Olson, 87, of Rockford, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015, with his family around him. He was born Aug. 21, 1927, in La Crosse, WI, to Albert and Mary Olson. He married Rita V. Loyd on Nov. 19, 1949, and spent 64 happy years together before her passing one year ago. Chuck was a World War II veteran. He spent 40 plus years as a member and director of the Rockford Sportsman Club, a member of the Coon and Fox Club, Rockford Anglers and the Moonriders snowmobile clubs. He was a member of the Painters and Allied Trades union for 65 years. Chuck enjoyed fishing, hunting and snowmobiling, as well as his trips to Las Vegas and the gambling boats. He is survived by his children, Carla Olson, Sheila Booker, Larry (Ali) Olson and Rhonda (Mike) Bond, all of Rockford and Terry (Karen) Olson of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Jared, Joshua and Kyle Olson, Stephanie Duchow, Heather Booker, Melissa (Ronald) Robinson, Nicole Levins, and Kelly and Mike Bond; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, North Main Chapel, 2811 N. Main St., with Rev. Kathleen Brinkmeier officiating.
