Charles Skare Obituary

Charles 'Bud' Skare, 84 ROCKFORD - Charles "Bud" Skare, 84, died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011, in his home. Born Feb. 11, 1927, in Rockford, the son of Charles and Marie (Sahn) Skare. Married to Blenda Hoge in Rockford in 1948; she died Dec. 31, 1998. Employed as a firefighter by the city of Rockford for 28 years, retiring as a lieutenant. He was also a bricklayer for 33 years. Bud was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe. Member of YMCA Men's Club and a volunteer at Midway Village. Survivor include daughter, Diane (Gary) MacGregor; son, Tom Skare; grandchildren, Ryan and Rory MacGregor; sister, Jean Winquist; and nephews and nieces. Predeceased by sister, Lavern Cleveland. The family would like to thank Bickford House and Heartland Hospice for their care and support. Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, in Sundberg Funeral Home Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., with visitation one hour before service time. Chaplain Pam Lojewski of Heartland Hospice will officiate. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park. Memorials to Alzheimer's Association. To the family.
So sorry to read about Bud. I worked many years at old station #5 with him, carpooling to work many times. We lived in the same area for many years. We alwqys had a good time together, and he always had advice for me to help me as a firefighter.
