DENNIS ARTHUR WALLIN, 76 PEORIA, AZ -Dennis Arthur Wallin, 76, formerly of Rockford, died Friday, December 19, 2014 at his home, surrounded by family. Denny was born October 31, 1938, the son of Arthur and Edith (Lindahl) Wallin in Waukegan, IL. He graduated from East High School in Rockford in 1956, and attended Northern Illinois University. Denny served as a Corporal in the Marines with the 1st Aircraft Wing in Iwakuni, Japan from 1957-1959. Denny married Patricia Irwin of Rockford on August 19, 1961. Denny founded Rock Valley Brick in 1970 and retired in 1995. During that time, he served as President of the National Association of Brick Distributors for one term and President of the Brick Distributors of Illinois for 10 years. He was a devout member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Rockford for over 30 years. Denny enjoyed golfing and socializing with friends. He loved singing "What a Wonderful World." Denny was preceded in death by Patricia, his wife of 35 years, both parents, and his brother, John Parod. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Maggie Wallin, of Peoria, AZ; son, Mike (Tracy) of Rockford, daughters, Kristin Wallin of Tucson, AZ and Kelly (Scott) Schmitz of Roscoe; grandchildren, Haley, Alex, Casey, Tyler, Mallori, Cali, and Jadon; sister, Joan (Jerry) Kremer; brother-in-law, Robert (Mary Anne) Irwin; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a private memorial service. In honor of his granddaughter, Casey Schmitz, donations in Denny's name may be sent to Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation, 200 Capri Isles Blvd, Suite 7F, Venice, Florida 34292.
