Derek Hasse

DEREK HASSE, 79 ROCKFORD - Derek Hasse, 79, of Rockford passed away March 10, 2010, in St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis. Born Feb. 23, 1931, in Norwich, England, a son to Mabel Cohen. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Albert Hasse. In 1950, he married Sally Breimeier in New Salem, N.D. Derek was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War, received a master's degree in industrial relations from the University of Illinois, and was the vice-president of Human Resources for ELCO Industries, Rockford, retiring after 26 years. He attended Our Savior Lutheran Church, Rockford, and served on the board of directors for Generations Credit Union, Rockford. Derek was very physically active, an avid golfer and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Derek is survived by wife, Sally; daughter, Michele (Bruce) Rheinecker of Pinckneyville; sons, Mark Hasse of Sioux City, Iowa and Michael Hasse of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Derek (Janna) Pollock, Stephanie Hasse, Megan Hasse, Jane Ann (David) Hock and Lynn Beth Rheinecker; great-grandchild, Carter Easton Pollock; uncle, Louis (Muriel) Cohen; and cousin, Phil (Eileen) Cohen. Predeceased by his parents. Memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Rockford, with Pastor Reid Matthias officiating.
