Digby Lindquist Obituary

DIGBY 'DIGGER' LINDQUIST, 84 LOVING HUSBAND, DAD, GRANDPA AND GREAT-GRANDPA ROCKFORD - Digby "Digger" Lindquist, 84, of Rockford died at 4:14 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Huntington Place in Janesville, Wis. Digger was born Jan. 26, 1928, in Naperville; the son of Roy and Martha (Reith) Lindquist. He was a member of the National Cross Country team representing Drake University in the fall of 1945, and served in the Marines from 1946 to 1948. He married Norma Miller on Oct. 14, 1950. He worked at General Electric in sales for more than 40 years and retired in 1991. Digger was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, enjoyed working in the yard, fishing in Canada, golfing and spending time with friends. Survivors include children, Peggy Ekedahl, of Milton, Wis., and Tom (Anne) Lindquist of Rockford; grandchildren, Kelly (Chad) Kleifoth of Milton and Michael (Jessica) Ekedahl of Janesville; great- grandchildren, Alaina, Ethan, Andrew and Brady; numerous nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends, Gerald and Marian Strand. Predeceased by parents; wife, Norma; and siblings, Roy Lindquist, Donald Lindquist and Paulette Hilton Service at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 200 N. First St., with Pastor Jay Quinn officiating. Visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Road, and from 2 p.m. Saturday to time of service at the church. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001 or to Trinity Lutheran Church.
