Donna Mincemoyer Obituary

Donna J. Mincemoyer 1933—2016
Donna Jean Mincemoyer, 82, formerly of Monroe Center, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 13, 2016, with her family by her side, at Morning Star Village in Rockford, IL, after a brief illness. She was born October 8, 1933, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Harold and Myrna (Graham) Heivilin. She graduated from East High School, class of 1952. Donna married the love of her life, LeRoy (Lee) Mincemoyer on March 15, 1953, in New Milford. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2013, shortly before Lee passed away. She never over came the heartbreak of living without him. You really can die from a broken heart, and now they are together! Lee and Donna were the owners of Lee's Grocery, which they operated for 25 years serving friends and neighbors of Monroe Center. After selling the store and moving to Davis Junction, Donna worked at Borg Warner in the Insurance Department until her retirement. Donna loved to knit and shared her beautiful creations with her family and friends whenever she could. She was always so proud and liked to brag about her grandchildren! Donna is survived by son, David (Jodi) of Stillman Valley; grandchildren, David (Katherine Ollis) Mincemoyer of Chicago and Daniel Mincemoyer of Rockford, and step-grandchildren, Kyle Wills of Los Angeles and Kelsey Wills of Chicago; sister, Janet (Don) Edwards; brother, Jay (Lavona) Heivilin; aunt, Betty Mincemoyer, all of Rockford, and sister-in-law, Julia Baldridge of Hardy, AR; brother-in-law, Dave Hirst; special niece, Deann Mealey; and several nieces, nephews, friends, and special caregiver, Debbie Webster. Predeceased by her husband, Lee; son, James; her parents; brother, Dean; brother-in-law, Keith Mincemoyer; and sister-in-law, Sally Hirst. The family would like to express its gratitude to the staffs at Morning Star Village and Serenity Hospice for their loving care.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m, Monday, April 18, 2016, at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Stillman Valley, with visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Darrell Ropp, Chaplin of Serenity Home and Hospice will officiate. Burial will be in Monroe Center Cemetery. Please make memorials to Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon, IL. My deepest sympathy to all. I worked with both Donna and Lee for many years at Borg-Warner/Rockford Powertrain. They were both awesome people. Donna and I used to eat lunch everyday at work and she was one of the kindest people I have ever met. We shared a birthday and exchanged birthday cards every year. My prayers go out to all of you.

We are saddened to hear about Donna. Our deepest sympathy to her family. I remember the family picnics we had many years ago. She was a wonderful lady. We pray that you will find peace and comfort in the arms of our loving Savior. God be with you.
