ELIZABETH M. 'BETTY' BERGLUND, 76 ROCKFORD - Elizabeth M. "Betty" Berglund, 76, of Rockford, died at 11:20 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, in Provena St. Anne Center. Born Aug. 2, 1937, in Rockford, the daughter of David A. and Hilder (Johnson) Berglund. Betty graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1959, with a Bachelor's degree in Education. She was a teacher for 55 years, spending 45 of them at Rockford Christian Elementary School. Member of First Evangelical Covenant Church. She is survived by her sister, Jan Norberg of Rockford; and brother, Bruce (Dorothy) Berglund of Dallas, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents. Special thanks to her cousin, Arlene Rippentrop, who kindly attended her. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, in First Evangelical Covenant Church, 316 Wood Rd., with Rev. David Ahrens and Rev. Chuck Olson officiating. Private burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the church. Memorials may be made to Rockford Christian Schools; First Evangelical Covenant Church; or The Salvation Army Rockford Temple Corps, 500 S. Rockford Ave., Rockford, IL 61104. Sorry to hear about Miss Berglund. Even more than 6 years after your passing, you are still remembered. Hi, Jill Johnson. 1972. I don't think you were in my class. I was in the 1971-72 class. You must have been in the 72-73 class.

I taught many years with Betty at RCS and found her to be one of the sweetest, humble& most bashful friends I knew. Her close walk with The Lord was so admirable & her tender care for her students was a Mark of her greatness. I will miss her!
