ELMER H. MEDEN, 89 ROCKFORD - Elmer H. Meden, 89, of Rockford, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at home, on his 89th birthday, surrounded by his family. Born Oct. 19, 1924, in Rockford, the son of Henning and Frida (Holgerson) Meden. Graduated from East High School, Class of 1942. Veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps. Married Gloria Hagaman on May 14, 1949, in Rockford. Employed by Beaver Gear as an assembly foreman for 37 years, retiring in 1987. He loved fishing and woodworking. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Gloria; children, Marlo Buchmann, Gary (Cindy) Meden and Kathy (John) Meiners; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; half-brother, Arney Meden of Sweden; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; twin son and daughter in infancy. The family wishes to thank Northern Illinois Hospice for their loving care. Service at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
