Oh, how I miss the coffee mornings at Elsie's. She didn't make a penny on the all the coffee she poured but was always gracious and greeted everryone warmly.
That was where we learned the news of the day, picked up greeting cards to send because of that news, found out who in SV needed help/assistance and talked about the weather, the high school sports scores and perhaps,? a little gossip too. Elsie was important to us in other ways too as she supported all the charities by ringing door bells to collect money, making dishes to pass, making costumes for May Pole, Halloween. Girl Scouts, rolling bandages for cancer care
and what ever else was needed. She was a delightful friend and should be remembered for her kindness. Meg Bushnell

Elsie was a lovely lady who treated everyone with kindness. As a young teacher in Stillman Valley, I vividly remember her sweet disposition and welcoming manner. I am sorry for your loss.

Dear Bob, Craig, Karla and Scott, My thoughts have been in Stillman and with you this week. When I heard the news of Elsie's passing, I was sad, shed tears and was hit with a flood of fond memories. The "young boy's memories" that still live inside this grown man were of the good feelings I had standing outside your home on Grant, waiting for the familiar sound of Elsie opening the door, seeing her kind, warm smile and the greeting she gave me, as she welcomed me into your home and lives. Though it's been many years, since I last saw her, I still carry and treasure a lot of memories of Elsie and of you, her family. All of you were so good to me. You were an important part of my life then and the memories of those times, spent with "the Sands," now, long past, remain an important part of my life. Elsie and, you, Bob, Craig, Karla and Scott, will always have a special place in my heart. I hold you all, warmly in my thoughts. From "the kid down the block"...

What a joy to have known this lovely lady for nearly 40 years. It was a pleasure to downnload these photos yesterday going back nearly 20 years to our great visits in Mesa, AZ. And how happy she and Bob looked at both Matthew and Erin's weddings. My prayers are with you all.
